K9Grass Eco installation – Louterbloemen Animal Care Centre, Dordrecht

From start, it was clear that the three dog playing areas at the Louterbloemen Animal Care Centre were in need of a fresh and future-proof solution. Due the everyday life, the changeable weather and intensive use, there was a need for a durable and hygienic surface that would also ease the team’s daily workload. Together with dealer/installer hondengras.nl, K9Grass Eco was chosen. A product that perfectly suits the dynamics of a modern dog shelter. With the installation of the K9Grass Eco system, the outdoor enclosures were visibly transformed. What was once a challenge is now a sleek, comfortable and smart environment where dogs can play freely and staff can focus entirely on care and attention. The site not only feels more modern, but also operates noticeably more efficiently.

Construction and Installation

For this project, a stable and well-draining sub-base was constructed, consisting of a sand foundation topped with a layer of crushed stone to provide additional load-bearing capacity and water drainage. This sub-base was finished with a layer of fine crushed stone, creating a level and firm surface. The K9Grass Eco artificial grass top layer was then installed on this levelled, flat sub-base; thanks to its open structure, it works perfectly in conjunction with the substructure. This construction prevents from forming mud, keeps the playing area level and supports the artificial grass’s excellent drainage capacity.
